Creation Story of the Greek Literature and the Greek gods and goddesses

Creation of the World

In the beginning there was only chaos. Then out of the void appeared Erebus, the unknowable place where death dwells, and Night. All else was empty, silent, endless, darkness. Then somehow Love was born bringing a start of order. From Love came Light and Day. Once there was Light and Day,
Gaea, the earth appeared. Then Erebus slept with Night, who gave birth to Ether, the heavenly light, and to Day the earthly light. Then Night alone produced Doom, Fate, Death, Sleep, Dreams, Nemesis, and others that come to man out of darkness.
Meanwhile Gaea alone gave birth to Uranus, the heavens. Uranus became Gaea's mate covering her on all sides. Together they produced the three Cyclopes, the three Hecatoncheires, and twelve Titans.
However, Uranus was a bad father and husband. He hated the Hecatoncheires. He imprisoned them by pushing them into the hidden places of the earth, Gaea's womb. This angered Gaea and she ploted against Uranus. She made a flint sickle and tried to get her children to attack Uranus. All were too afraid except, the youngest Titan, Cronus.
Gaea and Cronus set up an ambush of Uranus as he lay with Gaea at night. Cronus grabed his father and castrated him, with the stone sickle, throwing the severed genitales into the ocean. The fate of Uranus is not clear. He either died, withdrew from the earth, or exiled himself to Italy. As he departed he promised that Cronus and the Titans would be punished. From his spilt blood came the Giants, the Ash Tree Nymphs, and the Erinnyes. From the sea foam where his genitales fell came Aphrodite.
Cronus became the next ruler. He imprisoned the Cyclopes and the Hecatoncheires in Tartarus. He married his sister Rhea, under his rule the Titans had many offspring. He ruled for many ages. However, Gaea and Uranus both had prophesied that he would be overthrown by a son. To avoid this Cronus swallowed each of his children as they were born. Rhea was angry at the treatment of the children and ploted against Cronus. When it came time to give birth to her sixth child, Rhea hid herself, then she left the child to be raised by nymphs. To concel her act she wrapped a stone in swaddling cloths and passed it off as the baby to Cronus, who swallowed it.
This child was Zeus. He grew into a handsome youth on Crete. He consulted Metis on how to defeat Cronus. She prepaired a drink for Cronus design to make him vomit up the other children. Rhea convinced Cronus to accept his son and Zeus was allowed to return to Mount Olympus as Cronus's cupbearer. This gave Zeus the opertunity to slip Cronus the specially prepaired drink. This worked as planned and the other five children were vomitted up. Being gods they were unharmed. They were thankful to Zeus and made him their leader.
Cronus was yet to be defeated. He and the Titans, except PrometheusEpimetheus, and Oceanus, fought to retain their power. Atlas became their leader in battle and it looked for some time as though they would win and put the young gods down. However, Zeus was cunning. He went down to Tartarus and freed the Cyclopes and the Hecatoncheires. Prometheus joined Zeus as well. He returned to battle with his new allies. The Cyclopes provided Zeus with lighting bolts for weapons. The Hecatoncheires he set in ambush armed with boulders. With the time right, Zeus retreated drawing the Titans into the Hecatoncheires's ambush. The Hecatoncheires rained down hundreds of boulders with such a fury the Titans thought the mountains were falling on them. They broke and ran giving Zeus victory.
Zeus exiled the Titans who had fought against him into Tartarus. Except for Atlas, who was singled out for the special punishment of holding the world on his shoulders.
However, even after this victory Zeus was not safe. Gaea angry that her children had been imprisoned gave birth to a last offspring, Typhoeus. Typhoeus was so fearsome that most of the gods fled. However, Zeus faced the monster and flinging his lighting bolts was able to kill it. Typhoeus was burried under Mount Etna in Sicily.
Much later a final challenge to Zeus rule was made by the Giants. They went so far as to attempt to invade Mount Olympus, piling mountain upon mountain in an effort to reach the top. But, the gods had grown strong and with the help of Heracles the Giants were subdued or killed.

Welcome to my humble abode...err.. blog.

"Call out the servants! The queen is awake!"

-from "The Elite" of Kiera Cass

(I LOVE THAT BOOK <3)

(as for me... I'd prefer "the princess". If I had a previous life, I think I was a princess.
Not the kind who would just sit down and enjoy every luxury given to me since I was a baby and wait for the day the king chooses an heir to the throne (I'd leave the throne to my siblings), but instead, I help in leading the troops in battles, most especially healing wounded soldiers, and I would be representing my country in diplomatic affairs and be part of debates and meetings that will help in the welfare of my country. Nah... just kidding. I don't really believe that... I'm probably influenced by some stories involving reincarnation. >.< )

Journal #1

Nothing can be "more perfect" ,so far, how a cup of chocolate and some pastries complete my morning. The Nimbostratus clouds start to go away and the sun, finally, decided to show up.
It's 6 in the morning and my mind... is clouded... by a certain someone.
This someone is actually not real... he's a fictional character from the book I just finished reading a few hours ago... around 3 a.m. Kiera Cass, you're right. I ended up around 3. I didn't even realize it. Shucks.

Maxon Calix Schreave. The prince. A One. A guy who is always misunderstood.
I wouldn't want to tell about him more. Well, It's obvious I'm on Team Maxon.
I have read both books and it was great. Really romantic and funny and sad... a whole lot more.
I just had different reactions while I was reading it. Sometimes I would laugh, I would face palm
thinking... " America! You're so stuuuuuupid!" , I would get so pissed off about Celeste, I would feel
a tiny ache in my heart, I would be as enraged as when I feel butterflies in my stomach.
Maxon is just so wonderful.

Before I should continue my fangirling, I should do other tasks as well... that includes school related tasks. Last week was full of activities but the following weeks would be busy again. Home works, projects, quizzes, new lessons. As long as you're in school, these words will always be popping in your head.

I remember having singing practices and wearing heels. Since its "Buwan ng Wika" we had Filipino games, shared and ate Filipino food, partied, and I did my best to speak in Tagalog, I even challenged a friend to speak in Tagalog for one whole day and I won. I would forget speaking in Tagalog sometimes but at least I know I try.
I love Tagalog, the words sound  romantic. Don't you agree with me?
There's only one thing I am annoyed when I'm speaking in Tagalog...
my accent... it doesn't sounds right. I guess I have to work harder. >:p

So, that's it for my first journal post.
Paalam! (good bye)

It has been a couple of years since I last updated my previous blog. I find that blog totally messed up and plain so I made a new one. A new one... yes... I'd like to gather the fragments of my negative past and let flames turn it into dust... so that I wouldn't be reminded of some lasus naturae so hideous I could puke
when I think about them.

Hot chocolate and pastry, anyone? ;)

"The Glory that was Greece" - Timeless tales of gods and goddesses

(Disclaimer: Photo's not mine. I just got it from Deviant Art.)

1st Quarter exams are finally over and I am starting a new blog. It has been a couple of years since I last updated my previous one.

Right now, I'm big fan of Greek literature, thanks to my English teacher, my friends, and the awesome story of Rick Riordan's "Percy Jackson". So, aside my journals and media sharings, this week's posts will most likely be dedicated to Greek literature. (P.S. If you're Greek, and you're reading some wrong info. that I posted, tell me. I'd be happy. Want to talk about it too? Sure! comment below.)

I have read fictional books but Greek stories are truly timeless...

My English class' lessons reminded me of my childhood fantasies and imaginations.
I would read books about Greek literature when I was still in elementary.
Greek Literature is quite fascinating. Though some parts are not for children, the stories are very original, interesting, and beautifully written. I enjoy reading it while savoring my food.
There are Greek legends, myths, and epics. Some stories are hilarious, scary, and of course, romantic.

Zeus,Poseidon, Hades, Aphrodite,  Athena, Hermes, and Apollo are the most common and most familiar names out of the 12 major gods and goddesses of Mount Olympus. In the stories, you will actually see that these gods and goddesses fight even among themselves, love one another (including being incest), forbiddingly love humans, and get angry at humans. They even play war and had a beauty contest...
which, sadly, resulted to a war. Have you read the "Illiad" and the "Odyssey" by"Homer"?
Try.
